i must say you're very lucky that you have the festival of speed; no such thing where i live. F1's coming here in September for the first night race, and i think there's going to be a motor show also around September (which is rather small and features mostly asian makes). that's it!
and looking at the quality of your car shots, i'm really starting to feel the regret of getting a D40 over a D40X! great gallery though.
the d40 is a great little camera and and is very capable of taking images just as good if not better than the d40x a couple of my friends have them and i am very jealous of some of their work, and it looks like you are already achieving some great results with yours
i am very lucky to have the festival over here and i also live within 20 miles of donington park racetrack and have a couple of smaller venues very close by, so i am lucky enough to be able to go and have a play with my camera most weekends at club level meetings to try out different things
keep up the good work and hopefully you start getting more events starting up near you
wow, sounds like a fantastic place to live, especially for car fans! i really hope more events will start up here, but i doubt Singapore will be able to host a major motoring event (apart from motor shows and the upcoming F1 race) similar to the Goodwood festival of speed in the near future, especially since we don't have a race track, apart from the street circuit which will be used for F1 in September. i certainly hope to get some good shots at the race, although it'll be at night!
and thanks for the encouraging comments on my gallery and camera! the D40 is a great camera, and it's a pity that i often don't have the time to really play with it due to school projects. it's my first DSLR, and i'm still 'getting to know' it due to a serious lack of free time. however, i must admit that some shots aren't as good as they could have been, maybe because i'm using the kit lens (18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ED II AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor) for all my shots (no other lenses yet), but mainly due to my lack of experience in using the camera. i am, after all, just an amateur.
